Miu Miu I want you!

Hey Bloggatrons!

Lately, I haven't stopped thinking about the Miu Miu embellished socks. I went through a knee high sock faze about 5 years ago so you know when you've done it, you're kind of over it? Well the love has grown strong again and it's all thanks to Miu Miu! And the weather. It's been so bad (I spent monday and tuesday in a house with no heating) that alot of focus was drawn to my frosty feet. If only I had these, my feet would be smokin' hot! They're priced around €290 I think, which deserves an EEK! So I think my trusty DIY hands will be taking over. Maybe an ankle sock pair would be cute? Oh the possibilities!

Alexandre Herchcovitch S/S 2010, Louise Goldin S/S 2010, Topshop

Hi bloggatrons!

Another snowday and it's only meant to get worse..ugh. I think you know you're getting old when you want the snow to melt. But at least this means another fashion related post! There's nothing better than reading up on fashion when the weather is shit outside. Purchased Elle UK and Elle US for the train home from lobster's yesterday and I have to admit (putting the two beside eachother) Elle UK most definitely kicks ass in the fashion reporting. There's alot more "about the house" in Elle US and not enough Fashion, and it's all very squished- anyway that's neither here nor there.

So....FASHION! Found a number of delicious pieces that I wanna post about. Interesting for all to see. Someone I'm really interested in this season is Alexandre Herchcovitch. His Spring/Summer 2010 football themed collection is kick-ass. OMG the fricken leather football clutch is painfully cool. There are slight simalarities with Alexander Wang but maybe that's only the sporty aspect, but they definitely share an underground youth culture vibe. Have a look... (I'm afraid the photo of the leather clutch is the best I could get)

Hello my main woman Louise Goldin! It's amazing, the fashion industry moves so quickly that sometimes you forget the ones you love. Did I say Forget? Forget is a very strong word.
Anyways I got a VERY big reminder of the love I have for Goldin when flicking through Elle US yesterday. Her Spring/Summer 2010 collection is inspired by Versace's mid-nineties advertising campaigns and Jean Paul Gaultier's pointy bra influence in Madonna's 1990's tour. Random? Yes. But look at the end result...Fantastic.

The shoes should really have a post all of their own. They are just beyond the beyond!! Goldin will be stocking her diffused shoe collection in Topshop on February 5th for £150 a pop. Wouldn't want to be in there when a fight breaks out, simply because you could die. This is the first shoe collection for Louise Goldin and it's pretty fantastic that instead of going straight to Harrod's,Selfridges or BT's it's finding it's first home on the highstreet!

Oh hello... Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2010

Be still my beating..eh..feet.

A stronger word than Love? Anyone?

Wild Beasts, All the king's men

Just purchased two tickets for these guys (and Two Door Cinema Club) in March and I think it's safe to say it's gonna be a memorable gig. Jesus Christ just look at the the loyal yodeller!
Really enjoying their album Two Dancers, infact the song Two Dancers is gorgeous- I definitely recommend. The two voices work so well together. However in the meantime, enjoy this beauty.. Live at Jools Holland.

Statement DIY

Hello bloggatrons!

What I have been noticing majorly in the past two months is the rise of crafty accessories. Whether it's a DIY Judy Blame inspired piece with chains, plastic charms, spray paint and black plastic bag residue(wow that was graphic!), a finely created patchwork neckpiece of different silhouettes or Holly Fulton futuristic pieces, they're a coming!
Here are just a few pieces I came across on the net...

LV Paper necklace

Topshop

Making stuff craft book

Holly Fulton

The label Lizzie Fortunato is interesting, twin sisters that started it all in their dorm room in college. There's a real boho vibe to their pieces and a very creative aspect with the different use of materials- ranging from rhinestones, hand covered leather beads, crystals, metal chains, bolts, fabric and trims.
Here is a piece from Fall/Winter 2009...

Not sure what the price range is for Fall/Winter 2009, but I'm preeetty sure my penny's won't be enough. However, luckily for me there is a Lizzie Fortunato diffused collection which hit Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago yay! Ranging between $30-$50, not bad for fab!

Louise Gray's Spring/Summer 2010 range is deliciously chic DIY to the max. She collaborated with Judy Blame who is the king of recycling jewellery (and waste and anything else I'm sure) and making it into something wearable and original. I've admired Judy Blame throughout college and the punk roots he has safety pinned to his heart but this collaboration he has done with Louise Gray is not hardcore punk, it's more playground punk. The punk elements are there but there are a few bubblegum pink charms thrown into the mix, along with toy soldiers and spray paint. I'm not complaining! Have a look...

Appreciating Kate.

I'm having a Kate momento after hearing cloudbusting on the radio!

Fantastic!

Remember my very first post where I advised all of you bloggatrons to get on the diamond band wagon? And how I thought there was a major Kate Bush influence? Check this out.. It's one of my favourite Marina and the diamond songs..

Simalarities maximus! Obviously there is no-one out there that can do Kate Bush better than Kate Bush but this song and video are pretty kick ass. Better than alot of stuff out there at the moment.

Anyways! I hope you enjoy! xxxx

Bora Aksu, Spring/Summer 2010

Spring/Summer 2010 is literally making me drool. What an amazing job Bora has done with this collection, utterly beautiful. How? How? How Bora? The idea behind the clothing, the textures the silhouettes? HOW??!! “I had this picture in my mind of pretty prom dresses, and how they could be made more beautiful and this idea of throwing paint over them so that it dripped fluidly down them. So then I looked at appliqué and print” , explains Aksu.
Love the first look below, the prom dress looks like it should be worn by a zombie- the white sequin and black fishnet leggings, fabulous. While the second last look gives me a taste of sophisticated cyborg, there is a hint of Victorian with the fitted jacket. The bow detail on look number one and three below brings humour to the monotone colour pallete. It's a total success for Bora Aksu! In my opinion, he is still a designer that is quite under the radar. Maybe it's a nice place to be? Recognised and appreciated without the constant media spotlight, hmmm yes that's nice.
Anyways Bloggatrons! Enjoy the photos below...

Happy New Year!

Hello bloggatrons!

Wow what a great Christmas! The thought of getting back to real life is making me a little sad. Oh well it has to be done and maybe a detox will be good. It'll be a toughie though! My stomach has definitely expanded in size since Christmas Eve. And the weather didn't help in the excercise department...Yes, yes that's a good excuse.

Anyway I think a small fashion post is in order to brighten up the post xmas blues.

Photogragher Koray Birand shoots Missy Rayder in the almost nude photoshoot for Elle Turkey. Full photoshoot can be found on www.fashiongonerogue.com -gees I've referenced them quite a bit! This is my favourite photo from the shoot, just beautiful (without being too in your face), feminine while the exposed boob and AMAZING hat have brought a quirky element. Trying to work out the style of the hat- is it an embellished horse riding hat? If so, I feel like going in to my shed and bedazzling that mo'fo. Could be a good idea!

Anyway Bloggsters, I better get back to Robocop. Hope you all had a fantastic 2009 and here's to a great 2010!
Love and Hugs,
